| A letter to our patrons from the NJSO President and Board Co-Chairs |

October 2009
Dear NJSO Patron:
On behalf of the entire New Jersey Symphony Orchestra—its Board of Trustees, Musicians and Staff—we are proud to announce the appointment of Jacques Lacombe as the NJSO’s 13th Music Director. We could not be more pleased to welcome him to the family, and we expect he will lead the Orchestra into a long and prosperous “Lacombe era.”
From the first downbeat of the Debussy Danse through the enormity of Orff’s Carmina Burana last November, we knew we were experiencing something special in Jacques Lacombe. The immediate responses we received from the NJSO musicians and audiences confirmed this spark.
We know you will want to personally experience this spark as our Music Director Designate leads the Orchestra in several performances in April 2010, as well as the final “Best of …” concerts of the 2009–10 season in May. In addition, Jacques has already begun collaborating with our musicians and staff in planning the 2010–11 season, quickly putting his fingerprint on the NJSO’s illustrious history.
We are confident Jacques will bring energy and passion about music making to the NJSO, along with a desire to play a vital role in all of the Orchestra’s offerings. This enthusiasm, combined with his commitment to connect deeply and powerfully with our various communities statewide and to become actively involved in the yet-to-be-determined community in which he and his wife Janet will reside, will make his tenure as Music Director memorable and invigorating.
This is an extremely exciting time to be a part of the NJSO. We are thrilled with our new partnership and know that Jacques’ leadership and warmth will have a strong impact on you.
Bravo Jacques Lacombe and bravo NJSO!
Sincerely, |
|
